Kerry Wang is a seasoned and multilingual legal professional specializing in international trade law. With a career spanning multiple roles and geographical locations, she has developed a comprehensive understanding of import and export matters, trade compliance obligations, and trade policy initiatives. Her fluency in Mandarin, English, and Cantonese, coupled with her skills in Dutycalc and data analysis, further enhance her professional capabilities.

Career Highlights

Kerry’s career journey includes working for a Big 4 firm’s trade consulting practice, where she advises clients in various industries on import and export matters. She is adept at tariff classification, ADD/CVD scope analysis, customs valuation, rules of origin, preferential trade programs, export (ECCN) classification, and export control risk assessment among others. She also identifies additional duty recovery opportunities and provides advice to clients on U.S. and international import and export trade matters. These services have allowed her to help clients optimize their operations and achieve cost savings while ensuring compliance.

In a previous role as a trade attorney with another boutique trade firm, Kerry assisted domestic and international companies in meeting their compliance obligations by analyzing legal requirements. She represented importers and surety companies and defended against trade violations arising from government investigations, audits, internal reviews, or penalty cases.

Kerry provides services in duty recovery, duty drawback, First Sale for Export, Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) operations, section 301 exclusion recovery, Customs transfer pricing, valuation, ADD/CVD scope review, and country of origin analysis. Additionally, Kerry offers services regarding CBP Audits, U.S./Global risk assessments/ compliance review, prior disclosures, import and export classification determination, reconciliation, restricted party screening, and post-entry review. Furthermore, Kerry advises clients on related requirements administered by various federal agencies, including government procurement and federal award origin determinations. This includes guidance under various statutes such as the Buy American Act of 1933, the Trade Agreements Act of 1979, and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (Build America Buy America Act), among others.

Credentials

Kerry received her Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law. Prior to this, she earned her Juris Master from the China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing, China. She also holds an MBBS from the School of Medicine at Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, China. Kerry is admitted to practice law in the State of California, the People’s Republic of China, and the Court of International Trade.
